• Designing the silencer in CATIA (Engineering Design Software)
• Analyses of the exhaust flow gases before & after silencer mounting in

ANSYS software.

Calculating various parameters such as back pressure, sound reduction, and fuel efficiency of engine after mounting the silencer

• Procurement of materials.
• Finalizing fabrication process flow
• Calculation of adsorbing capacity of activated charcoal & absorption capacity of sound by glass wool(muffling material)
• Calculating the amount of activated charcoal & glass wool to be used.
• Concluding the end results by noting down the experimental observations before and after installing the silencer.

The following activities were exclusively carried out during the project.

• Getting proper approvals from College Management for using the engine for our experimental purposes
• Noting down the readings of the engine such as fuel consumed, changes in RPM when various loads were acting upon it.
• Calculating fuel efficiency of the engine for different amount of loads without mounting the silencer.
• Sound (in decibels) and the pollutants emitted by the exhaust gas were noted down by using a sound measuring application & emission test rig.
