Following Figure shows the cross section of simply supported pre-tensioned beam with 12 m length. Pre-stressed tendon is horizontal.  Id=700 mm  750 mm Ap=900 mm2 
 

a) Check that the beam has sufficient moment capacity in tensile and compressive zone for the applied loads in ULS (self-weight of concrete: 25 01/m3, live load: 10 kNim). 
 

b) If the live load is increased to 30 kllim (self-weight of concrete: 25 1(111m3), control and design the cross section in ULS in Fig. 1. For the rest parts of the exercise, assume Ap=1200 mm2.

c) Calculate and control _Pjekk and Pc, according to EC2 (lasetap = 5 mm). 
 

d) Calculate equivalent area (AEKv), equivalent moment of inertia (iEKv) and equivalent centroid (FTp) after long time (0=2.5) 
 

e) Control stress after long time (due to pre-stressed force and self-weight ) under and over cross section at mid span. Calculation assumptions:

  • Pnic, = 0,84 X Pjekk,
  • Use AEKv, IExv and YTp in part "cr. 
     

 

Control ductility of the cross section. Calculation assumptions:

  • Fcreep = 0,45 X 10-3
  • AEshrinkage = 0,3 X 10-3
  • AErelaxation = 0,25 X 10-3 • a = 0,4
