Scenario:
Three months ago a fitness centre that you work at introduced a new yoga class to its regular timetable. Their normal yoga classes, which they have had on the timetable for many years, are one hour long and are conducted at room temperature. Room temperature is when the air feels neither hot nor cold, which is approximately between 15 °C (59 °F) and 22 °C (72 °F).
The new classes they have introduced are called Bikram Yoga, also known as hot yoga, and are conducted in a hot and humid room heated to 40°C (104 °F). These classes are 90 minutes long. The yoga instructor for these new classes completed a yoga teacher-training course in India, but does not have an Australian qualification and is not registered with Fitness Australia.
Accident Incident Report forms for the last quarter show that there has been a disproportionate amount of incidents directly related to the Bikram class.
