In class activity This activity will require you to demonstrate your ability to develop a job specifications and selection criteria for recruitment, conduct fair and legal interviews and make staff selections based on agreed criteria. You should imagine that the business you are hiring for is one that you would really like to own in the future. The process you will go through is just as it would be in the Industry. As the Manager of your hospitality business you have been noticing that lunch time business has been increasing in the last few weeks and the current numbers of staff are not sufficient as customers are waiting too long for service when ordering and too long for their meals to be prepared and delivered. Currently 10 staff members are employed by the Café. You are to analyse and identify short-term recruitment needs based on the monitoring of service and efficiency levels in your workplace and decide on which positions you may need to recruit new staff. You are to create an Organisational Chart for the business as it is currently with at least 10 job positions and highlight where the required staff member would fit into the chart. You must develop a clear and concise selection criteria and job description for this new position with the job description that you develop to be used in the recruitment process. You will be shown examples of Job descriptions in class and you should follow a similar structure. You must make sure the description is specific to your business and the required staff member. It would be advised that you choose a lower level position such as a waiter or kitchen hand. That way your Interview can be realistic. The selection criteria you produce at this stage will help you as a basis for your Interview sheet which you will develop in Assessment 4.
