Task:
Context: You have studied the film Snow White and the Huntsman, which recreates a popular fairy tale. You have examined the way cinematic devices construct characters in particular ways and present character development, in order to position audiences.
Task: Assume the role of the director in ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’, which you studied this term. Prepare and present a multimodal Director’s Commentary that will become a special feature on a Digitial version of the film.
In role as the director:
1. Focus on a particular character in a scene, who is a considered either a ‘hero’ or a ‘villain’
2. Explain how cinematic devices are used to achieve this perspective.
Conditions: ? Notice of Task 3 weeks
1. Open access to digital and hard copy resources
2. The online seminar should be recorded in a digital format uploaded to SEQTA, or put on a USB and submitted with Assignment.
3. The digital recording should be carefully designed and edited to allow for effective evaluation of student performance
4. Teacher consultation permitted on the task proposal
5. Written teacher feedback permitted on one draft (submitted at least five school days prior to the due date, as determined by the class teacher)
6. A text production table, task proposal and drafting must be submitted as evidence of authorship
7. As per John Paul College policy, assignments must be uploaded to Turnitin for teacher perusal of Turnitin Originality Reports. The summary is to be attached to the assignment
8. Work is to be submitted by 2pm on the due date, in the following order:
o Cover sheet
o Task sheet
o Turnitin summary
o Assignment
o Task proposal
o Text production table
o Drafting (clearly labelled DRAFT using a Word Watermark)
o Criteria sheet (facing out)
9. As per QSA policy, late submissions will not be accepted unless an extension has been granted by the Head of Learning prior to the due date. Appropriate medical or other documentation must be provided if an extension is to be granted.
10. Technology failure is not a suitable reason to be granted an extension; it is the responsibility of students to regularly back up their work
11. Non-submission of assessment work jeopardises QSA course completion requirements and could make a student ineligible for a level of achievement in a particular semester
