INTRODUCTION
According to World Health Organization (WHO), (2019) elder abuse is any form of abuse and neglect that causes harm or distress to an older person above age 60 or older by a caregiver or another person in a relationship where there is an expectation of trust. Most common types of elder abuse are physical, sexual, financial, psychological abuse or neglect. Elder abuse can lead to serious physical injuries, long-term psychological harm and even death of the older people (WHO), 2019; Australian Government Australian Institute of Family Studies, 2019). According to WHO (2018) globally, the prevalence of elder abuse is estimated to increase as there is a rapid increase in ageing populations. There is a prediction that the global population of people aged 60 years and older will double, from 900 million in 2015 to about 2 billion by the year 2050. And if the elder abuse percentage remains constant, the number of elder abuse is predicted to 320 million by 2050. The prevalence rate of elder abuse was 15.7% and about 1 in 6 people above 60 years old experience some form of abuse each year (Yon, Mikton, Gassoumis, & Wilber, 2017; WHO, 2018)
