Part A

Undertake a creative reflection of your values and beliefs on caring for others as a nurse. This creative reflection is to be presented in the form of a visual representation using the shield template which is included in the Assessment 1 folder on Moodle. 

In 100 words identify the values and beliefs on caring you have represented creatively and discuss how they impact on your ability to be authentic in your practice.

Critical Reflection using Rolfe et al. (2001) Model 

In your own words (using references to support your discussion) reflect on how your values and beliefs on caring made a difference to someone you were caring for.

Consider the significance of human-to-human connection in the health care environment and share a story where you made a difference to someone you were caring for. What did care look like in this context (what did you do)?

Assessment 2 Culture Mapping

You are required to map and analyse the caring culture within an area of practice. 

OR Obtain a Patient/Carer story (You may use Emotional Touchpoints (Dewar et al., 2009) or online sources) 

1. Identify an area of nursing that interests you and provide an overview of current practice from a compassionate care perspective- use the literature to support your discussion 

2. Gather evidence of the workplace culture from a compassionate care perspective and summarise finding

3. Identify themes from your observation or story and analyse from a compassionate care perspective. Support your discussion with appropriate references, and include a reference list using APA 6 Referencing style.

4. Use the marking rubric to undertake a self-evaluation- use the template provided in the Assessment 2 Folder and highlight the criteria you believe your work has achieved. Provide reflective comments on your self-evaluation and include in your submission.

Assessment 3 Caring culture analysis and recommendations

You are required to analyse the caring culture within your chosen area of nursing practice. From this analysis, you need to propose changes that will have a positive impact on improving the caring culture within this practice environment. 

1. A brief introduction to the Effective Workplace Culture Framework (Manley, Sanders, Cardiff & Webster, 2011). How does an effective workplace culture enhance care? 

2. Use the themes you identified in Assessment 2 to analyse the current caring culture in your selected care environment. Discuss your themes in terms of the Effective Workplace Culture Framework (Manley, Sanders, Cardiff & Webster, 2011) and link to the attributes, enabling factors and consequences of the framework. 

3. Develop at least two recommendations for improvements to the caring culture from your analysis above. How will your recommendations support the consequences of the Manley, Sanders, Cardiff & Webster (2011) Framework? Support your discussion with appropriate references, and include a reference list using APA 6 Referencing style. 

4. Use the marking rubric to undertake a self-evaluation - use the template provided in the Assessment 3 Folder and highlight the criteria you believe your work has achieved. Provide reflective comments on your self-evaluation and include in your submission.
