Group Presentation

Some of you already have a group (maximum 5 people) with whom you have been working in your tutorials. For those who do not have groups, your tutor will allocate you to a group.

Requirements: Your group, is required to choose one of the most significant things you have learnt from the topics covered in the Cornerstone module. On this chosen topic, you are required to: 

1. Prepare a creative presentation that highlights what you have learned

As mentioned above there are two parts to this assignment. 

Part A:

Choosing a topic:

Your presentation could address journeys, social identity, issues of diversity, issues of gender, HIV/AIDS and stigma. It could also present what you have experienced or understood about issues of stigma in relation to the coronavirus, or how people used their agency during this pandemic. 

What we DO NOT want you to do is present a lot of information on the medical side of these diseases, or on prevention. Cornerstone focuses on people’s journeys, on gender and other social (not medical) issues. In particular, taking material that is available online and using that as your presentation is plagiarism and you run the danger of being given 0%.

Format of Presentation:

These are some possible formats for the presentation:

• A drama

• A poem

• A song

• A poster

• A cellphilm (a film shot on cell phones)

• A game

• A collage

Working online, you may be able to do any of these or a combination of them. Be creative – you could set up a presentation as a game, or even as a puppet show. 

NB: All members of the group need to be actively involved in the process as you will be assessed individually and as a group.

Time allocation for presentation: About 15 Minutes

Part B:

You need to provide a written reflection of your experiences preparing and completing this assessment. The written reflection should include your thoughts and feelings on:

1. Collaborating with your group 

2. Using online media

3. Some of the challenges you experienced in completing the task
