Reflective Writing 1. All students must attend a Local Council community services meeting and complete a checklist (which will be provided in tutorials) about the formal meeting process (e.g. quality of debate, involvement of the community). This is designed to assist you in reflecting on the Community Development aspects of the meeting and overall process. 2. All students must then prepare a 500 word written reflection, drawing on the checklist on four issues or processes they observed at the Council meeting about meeting procedures and participation. Some examples: (1) how did community members contribute to discussions, (2) how were social justice issues considered, (3) how was the social and cultural diversity of the local government area reflected in the issues which were discussed and decisions made (4) how were decisions made by the counsellors (e.g. by consensus, vote, acceptance of report by council officers with no discussion).
