Highlights
Gene Mstg1 has a widespread expression pattern in the CNS during development. One of the phenotypes of mutant mice is reduced inhibition in the adult cerebral cortex caused by a reduction in Somatostatin (SST)-expressing cortical interneurons. Experiments were undertaken to determine whether the defect arises during development, whether it affects migration and which aspects of migration it affects. Explain what each of the panels A - D show, what experiments were performed in each case and what the results in each panel demonstrate. Summarise the findings from all the experiments and suggest possible functions for the MSTG1 protein.
