Part A (10 marks, 500 words)
Sonia would like to bring her niece Adelina (the daughter of her deceased brother) for a visit to Australia, from the start of November to the end of January. Adelina turned 16 years old on 1 October and has nearly completed Year 10 in Fiji. She intends to finish Year 10 online. Adelina is still in Fiji and has never been to Australia.
What is Adelina’s best visa option? What conditions will be imposed on her visa? Explain by reference to the legislation.
 

Part B (30 marks, 1500 words)

Adelina has now been granted a temporary visa, with Condition 8503 imposed. After arriving in Australia, Adelina participated in an amateur tennis tournament. She was “scouted” by a teacher from St Teresa of Los Andes School for Girls (STLASG) in Collingwood, who was impressed with her game. STLASG has offered Adelina a place in Years 11 and 12 for 2021 and 2022, on a tennis scholarship, contingent on her obtaining an “appropriate Australian visa”.
