Scenario: You have been requested by your Head of Programme to design a 36-hour EAP course for the July 2021 semester. The course is meant for a group of 20 second year SouthKorean undergraduate Accountancy students (from Seoul) on a one-semester exchange programme to the School of Business at SUSS. They will be attached to the full-time Bachelor of Accountancy programme for the duration of the EAP course. The purpose of the EAP course is to enable the visiting students to cope with their semester of studies in Singapore. These students IELTS scores range from 5.5 to 6.0. Before you develop this course, you will need to conduct a needs analysis first.

For this TMA, conduct a needs analysis which should include the following components:

a) Identify the network of stakeholders in the EAP course. See Woodrow (2018, p.24) for an example of how to illustrate a stakeholder network. Next, contrast and examine critically the different perceptions of needs of the learners by the following three sets of stakeholders: the visiting students; the ESP teachers; and the domain experts.

b) Design questionnaires targeted at two of the three sets of stakeholders mentioned above. Choose carefully the two sets of stakeholders’ needs that you think are more crucial for you to consider in the development of the EAP course. Place your questionnaires in the appendices. Explain and discuss critically your questionnaires in your main essay.

Although the weighting is indicated separately for each component, your entire essay will be marked holistically. The word limit is 1500 words, including the appendix but excluding the list of references. At the end of your TMA, please indicate the total number of words.
