Spring Break Vacation - Case Study Assignment Help

Every year, students flock to popular “Spring Break” locations in southern United States to enjoy surf, sun, and sand vacations. This is particularly true of students who attend colleges in the northern part of the United States where the weather is still cold in late February and March. Some of the more popular destinations are Cancun (Mexico), Panama Beach (Florida), and South Padre (Texas). In addition to these popular destinations, students are also visiting less traditional locations such as ski resorts, casinos, and cities on other continents (e.g., Europe and South America). The other option is for students to participate in an alternative “Spring Break” program. These programs are for students who want to volunteer to help less-developed countries focus on social issues such as poverty, education reform, and the environment. The programs are typically run by nonprofit organizations and are “alcohol-free.” The goal is for the students to help communities in need and, in the process, the students receive a positive experience with a feeling of accomplishment. Also, some of these programs focus on destinations within the United States, such as working on rebuilding New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, or working with Habitat for Humanity to build homes for low-income families. The number of available options has changed drastically over the years. For example, in the late 1970s and early 1980s, most students went to Fort Lauderdale or Daytona Beach in Florida. Very few even considered leaving the country, doing volunteer work, or visiting a destination with a cold climate. Also, most of the students drove to Florida instead of flying, and they stayed in economy or average-priced hotels, often having 5 to 8 people in a room. The majority of the students' time was spent laying on the beach or by the pool, drinking in bars, and sleeping late in the mornings. Today, students visit popular attractions, eat at nice restaurants, and engage in other outdoor activities for an additional fee.
