Background of the Study
The background should briefly place the study in a broad context and highlight its importance. The current issue or problem of the study should be reviewed carefully. Highlight any controversial and diverging issue when necessary.
Problem definition and aim of the study
i. Define the problem in the article. Example: In this section, the article describes the Klang Valley air pollution problem, the previous record of their haze level, crucial issues that happen to the community, the impact on the economy, health (in specific), etc.
ii. Define the aim of the article and its significance
Descriptive and Inferential Statistics
Describe how the statistics knowledge of Chapter 1 was used in the article. The description shall include the following:
i. Population or/and sample of the study. If the article does NOT mention the population and/or sample, propose and justify an appropriate population and sample for the study. 2
ii. Define the type of data used in the article to investigate the problem.
iii. List all the variables, together with their scale of measurement. If the article does NOT contain all four scales of measurement, suggest additional variables and scales that are suitable for the study.
4. Based on the article summary, prepare a 20-minute recorded discussion forum (physical or online). An example of an online forum can be found at:
5. The beginning of your video should contain the following:
i. Your team’s name (),
ii. The team photo with members’ names and matric numbers, and
iii. The title of the article or report.
Assessment
1. Your group assignment will be assessed based on two main criteria:
a) Video Forum Assessment
b) Teamwork Assessment
2. Your lecturer will explain how your video will be assessed based on the rubrics provided in Appendices.
