Task: Complete a written comparative analysis of two texts and evaluate how the language features, stylistic features, and conventions in these texts are used to represent ideas, perspectives, and/or aspects of culture, and to influence audiences. These texts can be selected from one or more of the following categories:

• Extended texts (e.g. novel, short story, biography)
• Poetry
• Drama texts
• Film texts
• Media texts (advertisements, radio program, news report, magazine article, documentaries, TV episodes)

You cannot use texts read or viewed in other parts of the assessment program. They can however, be similar in type and purpose. The task must be written but could be presented as a comparative essay, a series of extended response questions and answers, or a speech transcript. This is an independent study, where teachers can only advise and support you in choosing texts to compare.
