A mobile phone company has recently introduced an updated version of a web chat function on their website and want to check how well it is working. A random sample of 60 web chat conversations were selected from the database that holds records for the more than 5,000 conservations that have been logged so far. From each of these conversations the following information has been recorded:

• Record: Identification record for a given web chat conversation on the website.

• Max_message: The maximum number of words included in any of the messages contained in the conversation.

• Min_message: The minimum number of words included in any of the messages contained in the conversation.

• Exchanges: The total number of messages exchanged during the conservation.

• Time: The total duration of the conversation (measured to the nearest second).

• Rating: The relative rating of the conversation given by the customer on a scale of 1 (highest) to 4 (lowest).

The data are saved in chat.csv You have been asked by the company to help answer three different research questions:

(1) Is there a linear relationship between the total length of a conversation (in the seconds) and the number of exchanges that occurred? Use a simple linear regression to describe and test whether this relationship is significant.

(2) Is there a relationship between the final rating given by the customer and the number of exchanges during the conversation? If so, which of the exchange categories have significantly different mean ratings?

(3) It is thought that having a relatively consistent length of message in any given conversation indicates a pattern of helpful, well-balanced communication. In fact, some new research suggests that to ensure a productive conversation the maximum message length should be no more than 8 words greater than the minimum message length in any conversation. Test whether the conversations in the sample meet the criteria suggested by this research study.
