Please measure a real Civil Engineering structure that is external, approximately rectilinear,safe and legal to gain access to, or a structure that is inside a building. Please take care of your safety and use proper tools for measurement. Some examples of Civil Engineering structures are small residential buildings (one or two storey houses), retaining walls, small bridges, drainage pits, storage rooms, etc. Large civil structures like UTS Tower Building or the Sydney Harbour Bridge are not required. Please note that items of furniture, noticeboards or brick walls two or three courses high, are not Civil Engineering structures. You are to produce engineering sketches of this structure in orthographic projection. Hand drawing only, no CAD drawing is permitted. Please scan the hard copy of your drawings, put them together with the information required bellow in a pdf file and submit it online before the due date. What is to be included in the submission:

1. An FEIT standard assignment cover sheet, with the statement of originality signed by you. The cover sheet can be found on UTSOnline.

2. A set of clear photographs of the structure.

3. A statement giving the location of the structure and what you believe its purpose is. There needs to be sufficient detail to uniquely define the structure’s single location.

4. On A4 sheet(s) a plan view and at least two elevations so that the structure is reasonably represented in your scaled engineering sketches. Each plan and elevation is to be titled appropriately. Plan view first, then elevations.
