Student Perceptions of Simulation to Enhance Clinical Assignment

Assignment Task

Description

Students will participate in a simulated response to a clinical deterioration during an on-campus workshop in Module 6. Based on this simulation learning students will provide Part B of the assessment and reflect on the experience utilizing Gibbs reflective model.

Step

1. To justify their self-assessed rating in Assessment 3: Part A - Pre-PEP Simulation Self Assessment, students will include a word written self-reflection that addresses the three (preparation, participation and collaboration) elements. Students are encouraged to use Gibbs's model of reflection to structure their work. The purpose of the word self-assessment reflection is to justify the rating and will be uploaded together in one (1) document with the written reflection into the A3: Part B - Pre-PEP Simulation activity and written reflection drop box.

2. The second reflective component, is a written reflection focusing on healthcare roles, teamwork, problem-solving and nursing capabilities during an emergency situation. Students are to support their work with high quality contemporary, relevant, and credible literature.
