Questions: The aim of the proposed study is to explore the use of mobile phone among residents of Sydney. In the contemporary world, mobile phone has moved from being a mere ‘technological object’ to a key ‘social object’. According to Srivastava (2005), mobile phone has fostered great social interactions around to the point where communication can hardly take place without its usage. The following research questions will be considered in the proposed study: 1. Why do people living in Sydney use mobile phones? 2. How often do people living Sydney use mobile phone on a daily basis? 3. What features of mobile phone do people living in Sydney use mostly? 4. How much does using mobile phone cost people living in Sydney? 5. What are the perceived advantages of using mobile phone among people living in Sydney? 6. What are the perceived disadvantages of using mobile phone among people living in Sydney? Research Proposal: Analysed below are the functional issues of research questions which this research proposal tend to focus on based on the research topic: Mobile phone use for work purposes: People in Sydney may tend to use mobile phone for business and workplace purposes as it allows for increased flexibility, the more flexible you are the greater the chances to prove to your customers that your business is the best to go with. Mobile phone as an entertainment and social media: Some people in Sydney may use Mobile phones to play games, download picture, listen to music, and movie, chatting, and social networking. These may keep people entertained when there is nothing to do. Mobile Phone Use During the Elections: During election campaign in Sydney, candidates may use mobile phones to keep in touch and connect with party headquarters in order to arrange local visits for national politicians which allows for faster election processes. Mobile phones as tools for social change: According to Adela Rodrigo mobile phones can play a part in social change, actually by playing a part in creating a space for youths to engage in issues that affect their lives. People in Sydney are more abiding to use mobile phones during accident like fire, earthquake, unrest, assault, burglary, coerce or rape. Indeed, literature reveals that there are significant differences in females and males using mobile phones. Females are keener to use it for safety purposes than males. While Females are more inclined towards the look of the mobile phones, males are more interested in functionality.
