A. Project Supervisor’s Responsibilities

  • Approve project objectives, plan, and timetable of work.

  • Advice on how to plan the structure of the project report.
  • A minimum of fortnightly (i.e. every two weeks), 30 minute meetings with the student during the project. Agree on actions required of the student.
  • Respond to student emails within three working days, except during periods of extended unavailability.
  • Make students aware in advance of extended periods of unavailability due to annual leave or fieldwork.
  •  Provide feedback/actions for improvement on draft chapters prior to their final submission, and if presented to the supervisor by an agreed date (see module guide for deadlines).

B. PROJECT SUPERVISORS CAN NOT

  •  Offer advice or mark work for those who do not have an ethics authorisation after the deadline date.
  •  Proofread work, i.e. tell you how to improve the quality of your writing. Supervisors can only advise on the quality of content.   •  Be available at short notice other than in surgery hours as published (or pre-agreed meetings)
  •  Give you an indication of a mark before formal assessment or offer to remark on a formally submitted project. The university process of double marking, sample moderation and external examiner mark approval must be followed.

C. Student’s Responsibilities
