The business has a national footprint and provides a variety of house types across the whole of the UK and is also focused on producing high-volume, high-quality homes. The current leadership team is continually striving to drive best practice across multiple areas of the business to meet the key corporate objectives. Bloomfield Homes has spent in excess of £200 million within its supply chain for a wide range of products. The supply base ranges from large multinationals to wholly owned single location SMEs. Bloomfield is in the process of Developing and Implementing an Online Portal to Manage its supplier’s performance and identify areas of risk in its supply chain.

Developing better visibility of areas of potential risk within its suppliers and improved methods of measuring the current performance of its key suppliers is critical to the business, therefore it has partnered with a software provider to develop an online portal to provide this visibility. Bloomfield wants to ensure it can measure OTIF, service level agreement (SLA) compliance around lead time performance, quality defect rates, and create a balanced scorecard from the KPIs and other inputs such as suitability assessments and financial due diligence. However, the business has no ability to measure these within its system. Therefore, the solution agreed is to develop an online portal where the suppliers will self-measure and upload relevant data to the portal. The project has a fixed budget and must be completed within a 12-month timeframe. The specification for each measure has been clearly defined as part of the brief sent to the software supplier. However, performance measurement signifies a cultural shift for both the business and the supply base. There is also a wide range of capabilities within the suppliers' systems for recording data.
