Task:

Description
You will design a small mixed data survey to address the research question formulated in Task 2. In Weeks 11 or 12 workshops you will pilot test your draft survey with a group of your peers who will work collaboratively to critique your survey based on principles of effective survey design (available on Blackboard). You will integrate this feedback to modify your survey and submit your survey with a written critical reflection online after you obtain feedback.
References
There is a minimum of six (6) references for this task. Please use Vancouver or APA style of referencing for your in-text referencing and reference lists.
Detailed Instructions
This is an individual task.
There are five stages to this assessment task.
There is a Task 3 template available under Assessment Task 3 on Blackboard. Please use the template to complete this task.
The due date for this task is Thursday 5pm, Week 13.
1. Develop a survey
Based on the research question you developed in Assessment Task 2 (you may revise this after Assessment Task 2 feedback), you will devise a mixed method survey, incorporating questionnaire design principles from the evidence.
There are several scholarly articles describing questionnaire design principles provided in the Assessment Task 3 folder in the course readings tab on Blackboard. These are useful resources to consider along with the questionnaire design principles described in the course textbook.
The survey will include:
Instructions for completing the survey
Demographic questions
Five (5) closed questions (quantitative)
Three (3) open ended questions (qualitative)
2. Pilot your survey
You will pilot your survey in Week 11/12 and receive feedback from teachers and peers.
Bring a printed survey to your workshop in Week 11/12
Teachers and peers will provide you with feedback for consideration in the next iteration of your survey
3. Revise your survey
Based on peer feedback, you will revise your survey reference to survey design principles in the literature.
4. Reflect on considerations to emerge from the collaborative feedback
The final written component of this report will include:
justification for the design principles selected in your initial survey development
justification of the changes made to the survey following the piloting and feedback process, including how these improved the survey outcome
Both aspects of the written report should be considered with reference to the literature to ensure it is clear how you applied questionnaire design theory to both devise a mixed data survey and revise a mixed data survey based on peer feedback.
5. Submit your assessment
Scan the completed feedback forms from the Week 12 pilot provided by your peers and attach these to your Task 3 report (using the template provided under Assessment Task 3 on Blackboard).
Submit your completed assessment to Blackboard
Feedback
You will be provided with formative feedback in Week 11/12. You will be assessed via the marking rubric located in the Assessment 3 folder on Blackboard. Summative feedback will be provided via the rubric.
