For this assessment you are required to critically assess and appraise the role of GIS as a valuabletool for a selected country to achieve one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In this assessment you are required to critically evaluate the current and potential application of GIS to support your chosen country in achieving the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) and communicate your findings using a digital report format approach supported by web app(s) created in ArcGIS Online.

This coursework is aligned to the following learning outcomes from the module:
Develop and enhance skills in the use of GIS: This assessment will build and enhance on the GIS skills you have acquired within the tutorial practical’s in the module including data acquisition and digital web maps and apps.

Critically assessing the use of GIS in the decision-making process: Through your research in this assessment you will identify relevant spatial data and case study examples of the application of this data which will allow you to critically assess the value of GIS in making decisions in the context of your selected country and SDG.

The digital report guidance
The digital report should consist of 5 sections and include text and figures (e.g. images, tables and maps. It is expected that sections 1 – 4 should include at least one web app.
You will be required to create a digital report (maximum 2000 words) which should include the following sections.

Section 1: Country and SDG Introduction. The country introduction should include a general overview of the environmental, economic, and social background of the country and a location map. The SDG introduction should include a brief description of the SDG.

Section 2: SDG spatial data (The Living Atlas). The Living Atlas data you have identified and assess how the Living Atlas data identified is applicable to the SDG.
