DEFINITIONS

Business Continuity Planning (BCP)

Business Continuity Planning detail the procedures to be followed in times of critical resource malfunction and system failure to ensure that essential business functions and services are maintained at acceptable levels at all times across the facility/service.

EMPLAN

The NSW State Emergency Management Plan. The object of EMPLAN is to ensure the coordinated response to emergencies by all agencies having responsibilities and functions in emergencies.

Health Emergency

An emergency due to actual or imminent occurrence which endangers or threatens to endanger the safety and health of persons in the state of NSW and requires a significant and coordinated whole of health response. Health Services Functional Area Coordinator (HSFAC)

An appointed position at Network/LHD level that has the authority to coordinate and commit all health resources within a Network/LHD during activation of the Network/LHD HEALTHPLAN. 

Incident Control Centre

In this plan means a local centre established specifically to provide centralised coordination of the facility’s resources and responses to an emergency/major incident/disaster.

Incident Control System (ICS)

Is a management system that promotes effective multi-agency operations through the use of common terminology and a structure that supports communication between organisations at all levels of the incident, and establishes a cohesive chain of command within the incident management structure.

Operational Debrief

A meeting held during or at the end of an operation with the purpose of assessing the conduct or results of an operation.

Situation Report (SITREP)

A brief sequenced report which outlines the relevant details of the effects of the event, the needs generated, and the responses undertaken and planned.

Surge Capacity

During a health incident/emergency, hospitals may be required to reallocate resources to accommodate an increase in patient presentations whilst maintaining essential services.

The responsibilities of SVHNS staff to safely respond and manage the COVID-19 pandemic.

PART 2 

Preparedness

Preparedness activities are those activities that establish arrangements and plans to prepare staff to initiate effective measures to respond to an emergency incident.

Training

All staff to have training on COVID – 19 and mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Training.
