Discuss the importance of psychology and its role in social work. Choose a theory used in psychology that has been presented in the lectures and outline how it may inform your work with a client. Consider what questions you may ask the client to gather relevant information, how the theory may inform your work with the client and how it may also help you in formulating goals.

You can make up any information about your client which may assist in providing a response (consider characteristics such as age, gender, relationship status, etc.). Ensure that you refer to relevant scholarly literature in your response.

Assessment Criteria

• Articulates the importance of psychology and provides substantial evidence of its role in social work.
• Identifies one or more psychology theory addressed in class.
• Correctly attributes psychological theory/theories to inform responses and/or formulate goals to ‘client’.
• uses ideas and arguments effectively, strongly supported by reference to relevant, contemporary peer-reviewed articles and chapters from academic texts (a minimum of 10 suitable academic references);
• evidences critical reading, critical thinking, comprehension, and synthesis of relevant theoretical and clinical issues and research literature;
• features well-developed arguments and original ideas presented in appropriate temporal and logical order
• Presentation (grammar, punctuation and readability of reflection) and use of APA; and abides by the word limit policy
