Essay Writing Assignment:

Question: ‘Systems thinking is critical in developing solutions to sustainability challenges.’ To what extent do you agree with this statement, and why?  Draw on one of the following wicked problems to illustrate your answer: 1. Homelessness in Australia 2. Highways vs. train lines You can choose, which one you prefer. Required: 1. you'll need to define systems (and give some examples of), before you define systems thinking; 2. you'll need to define wicked problems (and give some examples of), before you discuss your wicked problem; 3. you would benefit from introducing the Iceberg Model (an analytical tool within systems thinking), and then applying it to your wicked problem; 4. The essay is more than just a "personal opinion". The essay must be anargument, that is consistent throughout your essay, and supported by persuasive references (e.g. peer-reviewed journal articles, and book chapters).
