In this reflective task, you will complete two teamwork inventories. You will then need to explore and reflect on your team role preferences and team competencies as they relate to team effectiveness. Discuss relevant experiences that either support or challenge your team inventory results.

Step 1: Complete the team inventories

In this task, you will complete two team inventories.

1. The Belbin Teamwork Self-Perception Inventory (Belbin 1981).

• Start by completing the Belbin Teamwork self-perception inventory to document your scores for each question. Then transcribe the scores into the Belbin Teamwork Self-Perception Inventory Result Sheet (XLSX 8MB).

2. The Teamwork Competency Test (TWCT) (Aguado et al, 2014) form in Module 0.

Alternatively, you may conduct your own research and choose to use two different teamwork inventories that better suit your professional practice. If you decide to do this, ensure that you properly justify your choice of teamwork inventory.

Step 2: Analyse your results

Analyse the results from your Belbin Teamwork Self-Perception Inventory and Teamwork Competency Test (TWCT), or other teamwork inventories

Step 3: Write your reflective report

Write a reflective report where you:

• Provide a brief overview of teamwork in the context of project management and introduce the teamwork inventories.
• Include a brief description of a previous project that you were involved in.
• Critically reflect on your team member role(s), behaviours and competencies in your previous project.
• Explore the reasons why you think your combined team inventory results align with or are dissimilar to your expectations.
• Consider how your previous project example supports or challenges your combined team inventory results.

Step 4: Develop your call to action

An optional extra is to share your 'call to action' statement with your team members as you begin interacting with each other. Your statement might be in draft form when you first meet which is understandable and expected. The sentiment behind sharing your statement with your team members (if you choose to) is to get to know one another and draw on your collective strengths.
