Assessment One: Motion graphics and video Assessment Brief
This assessment is to be completed on an individual basis.

The assessment is to produce either the opening or closing title sequence for a film or Television series/programme. The title sequence is required to include motion graphics, tiles and video. Documenting the design and creation of the opening or closing title sequence will take the form of a report.

You are required to incorporate a significant amount of motion graphics in your production, including titles. As a minimum 70% of the production length should be motion graphics. The length of the entire title sequence should be between 1 minute 20 seconds and 1 minute 30 seconds.

Research the genre, style and theme of your title sequence, as this is important when coming up with ideas. Preparation and planning of the assessment will assist in the design and development of the title sequence. Furthermore, remember the theme of your idea for Assessment One will be implemented throughout the academic year into Assessment Two Photography.

Case One: The entire length of the title sequence could be 1:30 and include 1 minute 10 seconds of solely motion graphics and 20 seconds of video (setting the scene of the film/T.V. series) at the end of the motion graphic sequence. Or at the start of the motion graphics sequence if the design is of a closing title sequence

Case Two: A significant amount of motion graphics are incorporated with video (minimum 20 seconds) throughout the 1 minute 20 seconds to 1 minute 30 seconds title sequence

Working with Adobe Premiere
Students are strongly advised not to make a final edit within Adobe Premiere and then import the final edit into Adobe After Effects. After Effects does not separate the edits once an edited Premiere file is imported. This can cause some issues when trying to apply motion graphics to a section of the video. This in turn can make the process of working in After Effects twice as long as you will need to start and stop effects. Whereas if you were to work on the video footage first that you are incorporating motion graphics with you can then transfer the composition/s to then make a final edit within Premiere.
