3. Refer to the 4 × 4 2-D Mesh Interconnection Network shown in the figure below.

a.Illustrate how the XY-routing scheme routes a message from Source S (0, 0) to Destination D (3, 1).
b.Illustrate how the XY-routing scheme routes a message from Source S (3, 1) to Destination D (0, 3).

You must show the sequence of steps taken by the routing  algorithm during the routing process and identify all the intermediate nodes on this routing path between the source and the destination.


4.Consider the 2-Field Classifier consisting of 8 (eight) rules shown below in figure 2. You are required to:

a.Find the best matching rule for the following two prefixes: F1
= 0011 and F2 = 0101 using the Lucent Bit Vector (LBV) scheme.

You must use a bitmap of size 8 (eight) bits for characterizing the rules. Assume the word size to be 4 (four) bits long.

b.Find the best matching rule for the same two prefixes using the Aggregate Bit Vector (ABV) scheme.


5.Consider a 4×4 Hypercube network as shown in figure 3 below. Using the dimension order routing (E-cube routing algorithm), show the sequence of steps to route messages from node (0100) to node (0011). You must identify all the intermediate nodes on this routing path. You must show the sequence of steps taken by the routing algorithm during the routing process and identify all the intermediate nodes on this routing path between the source and the destination.
