Overview 

• Each student will research methods for idea generation and idea evaluation and/or selection in technology and innovation management and create method cards summarising their research. 

• Later as part of a group project for Assignment 2, these cards will be used to explain, evaluate and apply a selection of the methods to generate, select and evaluate ideas. 

Assignment task 

• The assignment requires research on one method for idea generation, and one method for idea evaluation and/or selection that can be used throughout the innovation process. 

• Each student will produce two method cards. 

What to research. 

• Each student will research two methods. One of the methods will be for the idea generation phase (generating ideas, stimulating creativity, improving ideas, etc.). 

• The second method is for the idea evaluation and selection phase (methods for comparing, evaluating, ranking or selecting ideas). 

• These methods will later be used for Assignment 2 – therefore, students should ideally coordinate the method topics among Assignment 2 group members to avoid duplication and ensure that a wide range of methods is studied within each group. 

• Please refer to the template provided for the content and format of the method cards. 

• A method card for brainstorming has been created as an example of how to present the information, including references. You may not include ‘brainstorming’ as one of the methods you research.
