Description

This assignment requires you to create a 5-minute audio recording that tells the story of a family. A transcript of your recording, complete with references is to be submitted with your audio file, for text matching purposes.  

You are developing this audio recording  as a speech, to a fictional group of senior leaders of the Department of Health who are meeting to consider the health budget and resourcing needed for the year ahead. Your 'speech' has been given a 5-minute time slot in their meeting, giving you a brief opportunity to highlight the importance of primary care and social justice, and the impact of social determinants on families. You will do this by reflecting on the story and experiences of a family that you have worked with while on clinical placement or have become aware of in the community.  (You can use a real example that has been de-identified, or a made up story).

Use contemporary evidence to support your presentation, integrating the key concepts/principles of social justice requirements, social determinants of health, and the health systems and resources that endorse primary care concepts and promote family flourishing within your narrative.  

Your family can be in a rural or urban setting; real or fictional.

Your 'speech' should include:   

• An introduction to the topic  
• A description of the family (this can be a real family that has been de-identified, or fictional) 
• The context of your involvement with the family 
• Key social justice requirements  
• Social determinants that may impact the family’s health   
• Primary care concepts  
• A strengths-based approach
