Assignment Task

Task

This topic has been set-up in a scaffolded approach, such that lectures, tutorials and Assessment lead up to this final assessment. Specifically, feedback obtained from Assessment as well as knowledge obtained from tutorial discussions on the case study will prepare you to develop a final case summary on the case outlined below. Your case management report should incorporate theories and knowledge that have been discussed in the lectures and tutorials. The tutorial has been structured in a way that it will prepare you well enough to develop your final case management report. The report will outline how each of the five key aspects of child protection case management were undertaken in respect of the case:

Key Aspects of Task.

  1. The first aspect involves submitting a weekly case/progress note based on the discussion of the case in your tutorial groups. A template for writing the case note has been provided here. Your tutors will guide you on how to write the case/progress notes. These notes can be handwritten and submitted at the end of the tutorial to the Tutor. One person in the group will be assigned the task of producing the case note of that weeks discussion. The following week, another group member will take on the task. You will lose marks allocated for the case notes if you do not attend the weekly tutorials. Online students will have to submit their case notes in addition to their final assignment.

  2. The second aspect of the assessment is producing the main case management summary report. We have designed the topic such that the tutorials and feedback on your case notes will prepare you enough to write this case management report. The Report will involve sections including: 1) case intake 2) assessment 3) intervention, 4). Family group conference 5). termination and 6) evaluation. See below a direction on how to write the case management summary report.

  3. A third critical aspect is that in each group, students will adopt different roles - social worker in DCP, social worker from a school, social worker from hospital, DV service, etc, so that you are able to have a ‘case discussion’ each week as the case progresses through different case management phases. This will allow the group to experience how different perspectives from different practice settings combine to engage in a specific case.
