To help with this, a range of quality additional materials are available – for ideas, see the ‘Other resources’ section in this Subject Outline, the reference lists in the Briefing Notes, the Canvas website, and/or your instructor’s website. Additionally, your instructor can guide you to particular sources that may relate to specific concepts that you would like to explore further. 

• Because the analysis will involve your own experiences, perceptions, or even feelings, you are encouraged to use a personal and subjective (first-person) account to describe what happened or how you interpreted events. However, please be sure to draw on concepts, theories, and frameworks that we cover in this subject – and related academic literature – when presenting your analysis. Thus, your ‘report’ should balance the personal and analytical.

•  Aim to be clear in your report about how the examples you provide or situations you describe relate to the concepts that you are using in your analysis. To do this, you will need to provide sufficient (but not excessive) detail in describing ‘what happened’, and to explain how each example can be understood or analyzed using the concepts you have chosen.

•  Your final Research Analysis Report should be submitted via the Assignments section as a single MS Word document. It should be no more than 2500 words (excluding references and charts). 

• Include your name and student number in the header (top right of each page) and a page number in the footer. Avoid cover pages, a table of contents and/or other unnecessary attachments; however, do make the effort to present your work professionally (e.g. appropriate sections and sub-sections, clear and error-free written work, specific and well-justified conclusions). Avoid recycling content, cases or ideas that have been used in other subjects. 

• Avoid copying content from any source. You are expected to use good quality academic sources when preparing your report but you must do this in a way that is appropriate – that is, be sure to cite and reference these sources according to UTS standards. Failure to do so will result in a score of zero. If in doubt, leave it out.
