A person with a cochlear implant who speaks Chinese-Mandarin as her first language is going to a busy Chinese restaurant with her parents (who speak mainly Mandarin) to meet her sister's new boyfriend from Scotland (who speaks Scottish English). What factors might affect the CI user's ability to understand each of the speakers as the family-members converse around the dinner table?
