Brief Description

You are to respond to the assessment task by writing an essay addressing concepts in evidence-based practice.

The rationale for assessment task

Individuals have a right to effective, efficient, and safe care. Contemporary healthcare practice requires the use of evidence to improve health outcomes for individuals, families, and populations. It is important for healthcare students to understand the relationship between the generation of research evidence and the delivery of safe and effective care based on evidence. Knowledge and skills in evidence-based practice (EBP) is therefore critical to practising healthcare professionals.

Task detail

The National Health and Medical Research Council defined Level I and Level II evidence as:

Systematic reviews and/or meta-analyses of randomized controlled trials

Randomised controlled trials As part of the APPLY stage of the EBP, use only Level I-II evidence to clearly answer the following research question: "which wound care interventions are effective in improving wound healing among clients with diabetic foot ulcers?

Immediately after your introductory paragraph, you must use the relevant literature to briefly explain the impact of diabetic foot ulcers on impact on the quality of life among healthcare consumers in the community as a background to your response. (Course objective two)
In APPLYING the literature, you are to search for and review only Level I AND/OR Level II evidence about "which wound care interventions are effective in improving wound healing among clients with diabetic foot ulcers?
