Topic: The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is based on the values of Justice, Equality and Reciprocity and functions on the principles of being Incontrovertible, Inalienable, Indivisible and is implemented through the principle of Generic Consistency. Provide operational definitions (that is, based in the literature, not dictionary definitions) of these values and principles. With each definition identify one national (Australian) and one international example of conditions/cases/situations that are contrary to or an abuse of those values and principles.

Writing a good review requires students complete a lot of academic reading. Given the word length I recommend a minimum of 6 references in the work but many more will need to be read for selection of the most appropriate works. Also, other sources of information can be used in the assessment (eg. Govt. reports, Print media), but these are to be considered as add-ons. Therefore, if you use 1 print media story, your Reference List should contain a minimum of 7 references.
Specific Requirements
What is of great import for this work is that through the review of the literature, students show their understanding of central concepts in the area of Human Rights, Peace and Development; and their ability to identify the operations of those concepts to real-world examples. The Literature Review is to be structured like an essay - Introduction; Body - can be divided in addressing values and then principles; Conclusion; Reference List which contains only the references cited in the text.
Students must address all of the values (Justice, Equality, Reciprocity) and principles (Incontrovertible, Inalienable, Indivisible, Generic Consistency). Operational definitions are to be provided ,ICI dictionary definitions. This criterion is critical to the assessment. One national (Australian) and one international example of contrary actions or abuses are to be given with each definition. Note, a brief account of the relevance of each example is required.
Sub-headings can be used but sparingly and strategically - eg. for Values and Principles. The work needs to meet the criteria as they are set-out in the Learning Guide, submitted to Turnitin, retain the Turnitin Receipt and Summary, and contain a Reference List (Harvard or APA) and the work must have at least 1.5 line spacing.
