You have arrived on-site to check on progress and quality. The carpenter has advised you that the wall framing is complete. You are looking at Elevation B. The drawing below is the frame that has been constructed. Drawing has also been provided to you, refer to the Timber Wall Systems file.

The wall has been specified as needing 9kN of Bracing. No bracing has been installed.

 you are required to determine if the lintels are correct. Once you have quality-checked the drawings, you are required to:

• Write (must be typed, not handwritten) a Site Instruction to the Carpenter describing all the errors and rectification requirements

• Site instruction must include: 

  • Sketch detailing the bracing you would use. This can be hand drawn or produced electronically. Email format is acceptable.

  • Describe the fixings that would be required to ensure this bracing meets the NCC requirements

  • Include key points required for the window installation once the wall frame rectification is complete

  • Include key points required for the vapour permeable sarking or a waterproof membrane

For this task you are required to submit the following:

• Completed Site Instructions including all of the above requirements

• Site Instruction must be correctly formatted, be industry relevant and easy to understand

• The section detail is missing some components. Sketch in the missing components and describe their function and importance to the bricklayer.

• The bricklayer is questioning the need for the details you have provided. Identify the Codes and Standards that mandate the requirements you have described and identify whether they are performance solutions or deemed to Satisfy solutions and why.

• The client has request two alternate proposals for the cladding.

• Rendered Compressed Cement sheeting

• Veneered timber sheeting.

• Report (minimum 150 words) for the client outlining two alternate proposals for the cladding:
