Requirements
TMA 01 is split into two parts. The first task asks you to propose an EBI that you can take forward in your study of block1 along with critical review of theory and the development of an evidence-based proposal to use. In the proposal, you should discuss your developing ideas and plans for undertaking your EBI. The activities and module materials will provide you with the guidance you need for developing this proposal. In second task you provide your reflections on learnings drawn from various activities undertaken in this TMA.
Task 01 –The purpose of this TMA to identify a current issue/ opportunity in your working domain and propose an EBI that intends to gain systematic deeper understanding of the prevailing issue in your organization, implement corrective change and evaluate the change.
You are required to select a specific area of concern or opportunity related to your work in your organization and present a proposal that indicates:
· What areas of your practice (e.g. a problem or an opportunity) do you propose to focus on for your EBI?
o Background that introduces the problem/opportunity and its effect on your/your departmental work in the organization. (why are you doing this initiative)
o What this initiative will entail
§ List three to five objectives of the initiative be SMART: specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time bound.
§ Scope. What product, service, or result do you expect to get from this project? What actions will your team take to undertake the project?
§ Deliverables. Describe each of the deliverables that will be produced at the end of each successful accomplishment of an objective.
o Define success/fail criteria and how you will estimate them.
· Define and justify the business and academic rationale for this initiative.
Provide justification on
o Why the initiative is being proposed, what pain points it will alleviate, and what impact it will have on the organization, benefit-cost analysis and also how it will create new body of knowledge.
o What you plan to accomplish from this initiative and how it fits in with larger organizational goals
Task 02 – For this task you are asked to critically reflect on your learning over the course of block 1 of this module. This will include reflections on the scouting.
· Analyse how making your TMA has challenged some of your assumptions about management and describe how you feel it has enhanced or will enhance your work in the present organization.
This proposal is an important part of the EBI process as it ensures that you consider and plan appropriately for the work you will be undertaking during the EBI period. The proposal serves as a way for you to get feedback from your tutor on your plans and to check that you will be undertaking a sufficiently robust EBI, while at the same time doing something achievable, manageable and realistic within the time limits you have with this module.
TMA 01 guidance
Your work for this assignment should draw directly on the activities that you have undertaken during the first block of the module and you should adopt a critical approach to both tasks. This will give you robust grounding in approaching the EBI and remind you that a key element within the process is your ability to reflect and revise your proposal as it develops. In employing your critical thinking skills, you will also be using critical evaluation in your adoption and adaptation of theory that will underpin your work.
The TMA asks you to synthesize and take stock of what you have learned throughout your MBA and prompts you to think about theories that you have studied and that may be of use to you in this final module. When you are thinking about theory you should bear in mind that the theory or theories you adopt should not just be ones that you like, but ones that support and frame the various elements of the EBI. For example, if your EBI is likely to have financial, human resource or systems implications, then you should choose theories that support these elements.
