Qualification, course or skill set description This qualification reflects the role of individuals who complete a limited range of basic workplace tasks. These individuals possess a limited range of technical skills and knowledge. This qualification provides a pathway to work in a variety of industry sectors and business contexts.Individuals with this qualification are able to perform roles such as frontline team member.

Relevance/reasons for course selection This course was chosen to give an introduction to retail sales and is able to address some of the core areas that the employees felt they had deficits or short falls in their knowledge and practical application. I feel this would provide some online opportunity to learn that could be backed up with minimal time away from work as the manager did not want employees off site for too long in the learning process.
The electives of digital technology and organise personal work requirements would help address the functional aspects of their job they feel they need training in.
With the needs of :
handling mail, selling products, using computer and office equipment and using/analysing online data tracking information
how to greet clients, how to book courier services, how to order supplies, how to check delivery dockets and orders, how to create effective product displays, how to engage with customers on social media and how to engage and provide quality service online. I believe this course will certainly give an introduction to meeting these knowledge gaps.
Delivery method/s The intended delivery method will be as online study modules with some blended learning whereby the learner will need to supply some evidence of practical application from on the job learning.
Assessment advice Assessment texts and tasks reflect those typically found in the workplace. However there will be the need to engage in four different interactions that involve communication with people who are either, Customers; peer team members or supervisors from diverse backgrounds. The communication will be either face-to-face or by telephone and will involve the communication of three different work tasks.
Culturally appropriate processes and techniques suited to the language, literacy and numeracy capacity of individuals and the work being performed must be used.
Assessors must satisfy NVR/AQTF assessor requirements, have sound knowledge of the ACSF and have demonstrable expertise in the vocational contextualisation and assessment of digital technology.
Assessment must ensure access to: workplace tasks for completion; organisational procedures relating to personal work requirements; quality standards; timeframes for completion. The assessment activities must allow the individual to work within usual commercial speed, timing and productivity and manage the tasks and in the context of the job role.
Assessment method/s The assessment methods will involve both written, verbal and on the job observation. Assignment tasks will also need to be completed.

Application of the unit This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to use digital technology to undertake simple workplace tasks. The unit applies to individuals at Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) level 2 who need to undertake a vocational training pathway or workplace tasks. This unit is designed for integration and contextualisation with vocational units to support achievement of vocational competency. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
