Reading Case Study Assignment 
This assignment requires you to analyse data, and write a case study narrative, based on a subsequent transcipt of a student reading aloud a book appropriate for an emergent reader, reading at Stage 1 in Year 1. The assigment has two parts you will need to work with and complete a data set (using the transcript alone) and write a case study narrative that analyses the child's reading assessment. Please note that all components and aspects of this assignment and the corresponding processes will be discussed and practised during lectures and tutorials prior to assignment submission. This assignment requires you to review and analyse a child's reading of a designated book (using a transcription of an audio recording of one child reading a book - you will have 3 possible transcriptions to choose from available on the Eng 1 vUWS site). 
You only need to choose one of the available transcriptions and then enter the transcription data onto a Running Record (RR) Assessment proforma. The proforma will contain the correct text from the book the child read (also provided on vUWS and discussed in tutorials and lectures), you will be required to use the correct RR assessment conventions (reviewed in tutorials) to enter the child's errors on this assessment proforma. You will calculate the appropriatness of the text for the child, the reading accuracy (reviewed in tutorials) and create 3 follow up comprehension questions (reviewed in tutorials) that you would have asked the child if you were conducting the reading. You will need to analyse the student's errors (MSV reviewed in tutorials) and annotate the Running Record Assessment proforma you have created from the child's transcript to identify, at least one of the child's evident strengths and areas of need.
