Today, as far as energy sources are concerned, there is an urgent rush towards meeting the ever-increasing energy demands via available resources, novel resources and by reducing wastages. Due to this, there has been a significant focus on exploring means of maximising the efficiencies of existing power plants, exploiting renewable energy sources and improving transmission efficiencies. Smart grids have contributed greatly towards meeting these ends.
