This assessment explores the evolution of a chosen sector within the tourism industry with particular  focus on the identification and impact of a contemporary trend on the specific sector. Instructions 
In this assessment, you are required to complete the following: 
1. Identify a trend that is has impacted the travel and tourism industry. Conduct research into  the trend to expand your knowledge on the trend and the impact it has made, or expected  to make. Please be sure to include: 
• A brief examination of key factors driving global trends within the travel and tourism  industry in general. 
• A brief timeline of your chosen trend including key dates and stakeholders involved. 
• A brief description of how your chosen trend is currently impacting the travel and  tourism industry, identifying a minimum of three (3) context specific examples. 
• Investigate and providing well-considered and plausible predictions of your chosen  trend, for future impact.  
• Identify and examine at least three (3) criticisms or concerns your chosen trend has  for the travel and tourism industry. Please assess whether or not these concerns are  valid and why?  
2. Identify the sector, or sectors of the travel and tourism industry that your chosen trend is  causing the most impact to and explain the evolution of this sector, including significant  changes over the last century that may have led to this trend. For example the cruise sector  and advancements to ship facilities. 
How to prepare for this assessment 
1. Review Module 6 and select a trend that has, or is expected to have, a significant impact on  the travel and tourism industry 
2. Review Modules 1-5 and identify the travel and tourism sector/s where the selected trend is  causing an impact 
3. Research the evolution of the impacted sector to understand how it has changed over time  and influences that caused this trend 
4. Read, watch or listen to all learning resources related to the selected trend and conduct  further research to develop additional knowledge on the trend.  
5. Research should include a broad range of sources and include academic sources,  government or industry bodies and professional industry media organisations.
Suggested Format:  
You will then need to present your findings in essay format (please see the academic writing guide  for the Essay Writing Style Guide that must be followed. You should logically structure your 1600 (+/- 10%) word essay to help your readers follow your thinking. For example: 
1. Cover Page 
2. Introduction (100 words approximately) 
o The introduction should outline the topic of the essay including key points that will  be covered based on knowledge you have learned about the tourism industry and  contemporary trends that have influenced the specific sector. 
3. Body (1400 words approximately) 
o This section is your response to the requirements included in the instructions. Your responses must demonstrate an application of knowledge and skills learnt from  Modules 1-6. Each response should be presented with: 
• Consistent and appropriate formatting 
• Appropriate use of terminology and clear academic language 
4. Conclusion (100 words approximately) 
o The conclusion should summarise your overall insights into the chosen tourism  sector based on your responses to the instruction requirements.
