The case that I have chosen for copyright is a music case called two Australian musicians filed a lawsuit against Ed Sheeran and two other songwriters called McGaw and Hill. This case is about Ed Sheeran and two songwriters illegally copy an artist Jasmine Rae’s song which was written by Sean Carey and Beau Golden. Carey and Golden believed that Ed Sheeran steals some part of their song and uses it to create his music.  Ed Sheeran and two other songwriters break the policy by illegally downloading Jasmine Rae’s song and publish it on their YouTube without the owner of the song's permission.

In 2018 January on Wednesday, the two Australians musicians have submitted a copyright infringement suit against Ed Sheeran, McGaw, and Hill in New York federal court. The two Australian musicians alleged that the Ed Sheeran song called ‘The Rest of Our Life’ was comparable to their song.  They claim that Ed Sheeran copies the original elements of their song called, ‘When I Found You”.

• The outcome of my case was that Ed Sheeran included McGaw and Hill must pay $5 million US money to the two Australian musicians for damages as well as an injunction, royalties, and attorney’s fees.

To prevent this copyright case from happening again is that Ed Sheeran should ask the owner of the song permission before download and publish it.
