Highlights
Task: End Course Paper
The purpose of this end of the course paper is to give you experience in integrating different theories that we have learned in class. Choose a movie, book or t.v. show that it involves some type of psychological disorder. Pretend that you are a clinical psychologist, and the character in the movie has come into your office. There is one central character in the movie that has symptoms of a psychological disorder. In your paper, you should give a brief description of the character. Then, you should answer the following:
Identify the diagnosis that you would make of the character.
Be sure to discuss the expected prognosis for the disorder.
Finally, you should look at the chapter on the treatment of psychological disorders to determine how you would provide therapy for your client.
Be sure that you answer all of the above questions in your paper. I expect that it will take you 4-5 pages to answer all of the questions. The best papers will show insight into the disorder, as well as insight into how the disorder must be portrayed for the movie audience to understand and for the story to move forward.
You are allowed to use whatever resources you need to find information on disorders! Please remember that sites with .com are commercial sites and therefore may not obtain accurate information. Also please remember to CITE any outside sources with in-text citations and works cited page. Your paper DOES NOT have to be on a disorder discussed in class!
Presentation:
To accompany your paper, you will provide a 3-5 minute presentation discussing the following areas: a brief background of your character, diagnosis, origins, expected prognosis, and therapy. Therefore, your presentation should be a shorter synopsis of your paper. Creativity is encouraged!
