Task: You are required to write a 3,000 word essay about the development and effects - benefits and difficulties - of globalisation. The essay assignment task comprises two parts as set out below: In the first part of your essay: please identify the most important of the factors which have brought about globalisation, giving their causes and their nature to show the way in which they have developed to the present point. You should draw on materials you have found for yourself, as well as from the taught material. In this section, you will not do well by simply finding from a web search a long list of globalisation milestones, nor by merely describing the lecture contents, nor by listing the events of the industrial revolutions. Instead you are being asked to abstract and to analyse the main trends and their causes of a handful of factors that can be said to encompass globalisation. In the second part of your essay: Taking a limited range of the factors discussed in the first part of your submission, there need be only two or three here, identify the benefits and difficulties likely to be experienced by different stakeholders. You are being asked to present a balanced view of how globalisation affects different stakeholders, giving the reasons for your judgements as well as analysing how the benefits and  difficulties are caused. From the lectures and seminars, it will be understood that there are some effects of globalisation which can be said to have beneficial  consequences for stakeholders and there are some effects which have created difficulties and setbacks for stakeholders. In some cases, the beneficial experience of some stakeholders may be contrasted with the difficulties and set-backs for others.
