Rex Coffee Shop - Management Assessment Answer
Assignment Task:
The company I observed is Rex coffee shop. In the cafe, I have seen many people working there, and the manager controls them. Using the managerial roles Mintzberg’s Framework I made the following observations. A manager is a person who must check every detail of the company and a versatile person.
INTERPERSONAL ROLES :
•
Figurehead: When I was at the cafe there was a bulk stock of supplies coming to them, and the supplier gave him an invoice and the manager signed on the Invoice and gave him the coins. The manager has to check the legal functions and social duties.
•
Leader: Manager sets targets for a day for the staff and motivates the staff to reach the target and assign work for the members working there. He has to inspire and manage the members. I found that everything in the cafe is well organised, the teamwork is effective they able to maintain proper customer service no staff is irritated they are so humble even in the peak hour time. This is all possible because of the proper guidance by the manager.
INFORMATIONAL ROLES :
•
Monitor: I went to the coffee shop at peak hours then it was massively crowded the manager made sure that every customer is comfortable and treated well and order are taken appropriately without confusing and monitors the staff assigning work in the right place one is at billing, other is at taking order and as a floor person. He must monitor the whole team and other forces.
•
Spokesperson: One person came for the enquiry about whether he can make his style of coffee and the enquiries are answered by the manager he should identify the customer needs of a customer.
DECISIONAL ROLES :
Disturbance handler: There was a customer who did not like the coffee and started yelling at the staff member, and the manager has to take charge of controlling the situation, and the manager gave him another coffee as a compliment and apologised on behalf of the staff member. The disturbance handler has to handle the disputes in the group and have to handle the disturbances in a long way and this the most crucial skill in a manager. Resource allocator: As mentioned before, the supplies which came in were handled by the manager about the allocation of the goods at their respective place, and he also made sure that items he ordered are received and make sure that everything is in stock and ordering supplies. We can conclude that these roles are related to each other and essential to have a successful business or a company and the manager is responsible for decision making. The manager has to lead the whole team, and he/she is not a successful manager without these roles.
