You will use Web Protégé to create your model using the FRBR and Dublin Core ontologies.

Task Specification

For this portfolio entry, you will create a FRBR model of your Book/Movie/Music review, developed in class. Describe your thing using the classes Work, Expression, Manifestation, and Item. You will use Web Protégé to create your model using the FRBR and Dublin Core ontologies. Additional guidance notes on the usage of Web Protégé will be made available on Blackboard.

1. Create your ontology in Web Protégé, (a free, online ontology editor. Registration required). You may use the ontology we already started in the tutorial sessions, or start afresh. Download the frbr.owl ontology from Blackboard. Create New Project > Create from existing sources > Choose File > Select your downloaded copy of frbr.owl > Create New Project.

2. Create a new Work - an Individual entity from your Book/Movie/Music review. This is still a very abstract concept as this level.

3. Add suitable attributes (data & annotation properties) to your Work (see ‘Attributes of Entities’ table in Blackboard).

4. Add a corresponding Expression. You can add (movie), (book), or (music) to the end of the name to distinguish this from the Work.

5. Add suitable attributes (data & annotation properties) to your [removed]see ‘Attributes of Entities’ table in Blackboard).

6. Add a suitable Manifestation – e.g. something that you could actually buy on Amazon.

7. Add suitable attributes (data & annotation properties) to your Manifestation (see ‘Attributes of Entities’ table in Blackboard).

8. Add a corresponding Item (this may be imaginary if you don’t actually own a copy).

9. Add suitable attributes (data & annotation properties) to your Item (see ‘Attributes of Entities’ table in Blackboard).

10. Add your Review as a Work in its own right. This is a “Family of Works”. You can use an existing related Endeavour property or you may wish to edit the ontology to add ‘reviewOf’.

11. Create an Expression of your review and add the text of your review as a skos:definition.

12. Create the necessary FRBR (Group 1) relationships between these endeavours.

13. Add suitable FRBR (Group 2) relationships with the necessary Responsible Entities. This may require the creation of new instances, as these are object properties.
