The case study MUST describe how the case is presented and organised (heading may be utilised). Discuss the wound as it is in relation to:

• wound assessment

• Anatomy and physiology of the skin

• Stage of wound healing

• Cause of wound/mechanism of injury if known.

You must clearly discuss the related pathophysiology and management of your patient in relation to their wound. Discuss relevant investigations and pathology findings. To demonstrate knowledge related to wound management, you MUST discuss factors that may impair or facilitate wound healing using evidence based practice/research.

You MUST expand and justify management by identifying and discussing key nursing and medical interventions, including clinical assessment, physiological monitoring, supportive therapies and evaluation of care provided. In the discussion of wound care products and or therapies use the generic names of products first (e.g. Hydrofibre) then trade name may be utilised (Aquacel ™). In addition, it is important to also encompass the psychosocial, ethical and legal aspects where relevant.
