Task

The purpose of the IEE 6100 Project is to provide an opportunity for you to demonstrate your understanding of the technical and practical aspects of Linear Programming (19), and your ability to effectively communicate about your work through a written report and oral presentation. This document outlines the deliverables and evaluation criteria. You should work with the instructor to determine exact requirements for your project.

Proiect Deliverables:.
Initial proposal: —I Page overview of yourproject idea. Describe the situation or problem you want to address as clearly as possible. Describe your objectives for the work (Note: "Optimizing" something is not an adequate
objective) and how you will get the information needed for the model. Describe the formulation by listing your expected variable, constraint, parameter types.

2.Final proposal: Complete proposal (-2 pages) that includes the finalized version of the items from the initial proposal (all in more detail), and also includes the modeling approach you will use (e.g., AMPL, Excel), a description of the analysis steps, and your expected outcomes/findings from the analysis.

3.Model and analysis artifacts: An electronic copy of your model (Excel or AMPL) and supporting analysis materials. All electronic materials must be organized so your methods can be reproduced.

4.Written report: A formal presentation of your work, written in the style of a conference paper. A template will be provided.

5.Oral report: A formal presentation of your project to your peers. The presentation will focus on the formulation. analysis procedures. why your approach is appropriate for the situation, and your findings.

Evaluationt

The major deliverables are 3, 4, and 5 (deliverables I & 2 are counted toward the homework category). The project will be evaluated based on technical criteria, non-technical criteria, and an assessment of your engagement in the project (peer and instructor assessment).

Technical Criteria (-50%): Suitability of the problem being studied, the rationale for your approach, and the
quality of the modeling and analysis. Evidence for this will be your written and oral reports, artifacts, and meetings with the instructor.
Non-Technical Criteria (-35%): Quality of the written report and oral reports, attention to the important details of the project (e.g., how LP applies to the problem being studied), how well you execute the project after defining your objectives and approach to the problem in consultation with the instructor.

Engagement (-15%): Your contribution in regards to defining the objectives and approach to the problem in consultation with the instructor, your active participation in completing the work, and your contributions to ensuring the project is conducted in a professional manner. Furthermore, you must be sufficiently engaged as defined here in order to receive credit in the Technical and Non-Technical aspects of the project.

Basic requirements:

You may work in groups of 2 for the project. Each group member will receive the same score for the Technical - aspects of the work. Scores may be individualized for Non Technical aspects and Engagement.

The work must not be trivial and the formulation must be of significantly greater complexity and/or size than a textbook problem. For instance, your project could involve several constraint types and/or decision variable types, large as to require the use of combine two or more formulation types, involve in-depth sensitivity analysis, or be very  AMPL or other programming.

• Analysis, testing, and exploring the model is an important part of the project. I-low else will you know if it works'?? The scope of the project, modeling approach, methods, and goals of the project should be established by the final proposal submission.
The formulation must be solvable using linear methods!
