Element 1: Identify elements of a business plan
1.1 Identify the purpose of the business plan.
1.2 Identify and list components of a business plan and review its relevance to a business opportunity (eg. Expected financial viability; skills of owner/operator; amount and types of finance availability).
1.3 Define and identify Business goals and objectives as a basis for measuring business performance. Explain how Business goals and objectives may be documented to form a basis for measuring business performance. (eg. goals, objectives, plans, systems and processes; short, medium or long term goals; financial projections; customer needs/marketing projections; proposed size and scale of business; lifestyle issues)
Element 2: Develop a business plan Complete a Business Plan for your business venture incorporating a minimum period of one year 2.1 The business plan demonstrates research into customer needs, resources and legal requirements especially occupational health and safety, in accordance with business goals and objectives. • State the desired overall direction of your business clearly by providing an Executive Summary, Business Description, Goal or "mission" and Mission statement • Establish explicit short and medium term objectives —o List your business' Aims & Objectives — short and medium term • Provide evidence on how your business will manage the organization and operation of Occupational Health and Safety issues. In particular to the following: o Procedures for managing hazards in the workplace (identify, assess & control) o Identification of specific hazard issues such as occupational violence, security, manual handling, equipment and hazardous substances. o Provisions for ensuring safety of members of the public and contractors visiting the premises/worksite.
2.2 Provide evidence in your business plan, in accordance with your business goals and objectives, details of your research into the following: o Customer needs o Resources o Legal requirements o Market Needs o Market size
(Briefly include information of the proposed size and scale of the business; market focus of the business; marketing requirements; sources of funding; need to raise finance and requirements of lenders; level of risk involved, risk assessment and management; stages in the business development; business opportunities; resources required and available; details of ownership/management; staffing; organization/operational arrangements; specialist services and sources of advice which may be required; finance; recognition of any seasonal or cyclical (time-based) elements which are crucial to the success of the business)
